Popular Canadian chain Cactus Club Cafe is coming to Miami. The Vancouver-based restaurant chain known for its casual dining announced it will open its first-ever location in the United States in downtown Miami this fall at Citigroup Center.
Founded in 1988, Cactus Club Cafe built its reputation serving what it calls “premium casual dining” – think sushi next to burgers on the same menu and vibrant fruity cocktails perfect for girls’ night. The menu typically spans appetizers meant for sharing, steaks, cocktails, and wine. Some locations offer happy hour specials and rooftop dining options.

“Miami’s energy and style align perfectly with the Cactus vision for elevated everyday dining,” says Andrew Latchford, the company’s president. The company has 34 locations across Canada and is expanding to the U.S., with additional openings planned for Boston and Houston.
The Miami location will be on the ground floor of the 34-story Citigroup Center at Biscayne Boulevard and Southeast Second Street. It will have views of Biscayne Bay and access to Bayfront Park.

What to Expect: Fun Frozen Cocktails and a Moody Ambiance
Executive chef Greg McCallum will run the kitchen, serving a menu that jumps from Japanese-inspired dishes to North American classics. Signature items include the “Feenie Burger,” named after Rob Feenie, the first Canadian to win Iron Chef America, and truffle parmesan chicken. The chain made its name in Canada partly through celebrity chef partnerships. Feenie developed several menu items that appear at all locations, marked specifically on the menus.
Canadian Cactus Club locations feature contemporary art collections, including pieces by Andy Warhol and Basquiat at some flagship stores. Most have rooftop patios and what the company describes as an upscale-casual vibe.
Ana Castro, general manager for Citigroup Center, says the restaurant fits what tenants want. “We are proud to host their first Florida location and look forward to Cactus injecting a fresh energy into the area.”
