The Deals: $1 off all drinks. From 3 to 6 p.m. happy hour menu.
The Scene: One has better chances of stumbling upon a Black Hole than Black Point Marina and its Ocean Grill, a completely open air dockside restaurant at the southern terminus of Galloway Road. But if you have some time on your hands and in the mood for a southern sojourn to seafood and cold beer, then you’ll have a hard time finding a better happy hour.
Blackened Dolphin Tacos ($3.50) and Mini-Shrimp Quesadilla ($4) are the best of the happy hour menu. The food is good and the drinks are cold (they’d better be cause it can get dank and stank if the wind is blowing the wrong way with a Mount Trashmore within eyesight) but there is little doubt that the best thing about Ocean Grill is sitting dockside and watching a show put on by inebriated boaters. They never fail to crash their vessels into the docks or end up driving their pick up trucks straight into the bay when they try to get their boats up from the ramp. That should be a lesson to all, first dock boat then get drunk at Ocean Grill.
Conclusion: Sitting on the dock of they bay is about the best way to enjoy happy hour. Throw in some dolphin tacos, a cold brewski and some drunken irresponsibility and you have the makings of a South Florida classic.
