Reader support matters more than ever
We're in the final stretch of our summer campaign. Our goal is to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the journalism our community relies on. Reader support is helping shape the future of local news.
Halloween is right around the corner and we can smell fear around us. Whether it’s because of the psychotic neighbor who’s decided to reenact SAW in his front yard, or the girlfriend who convinced you that Ken and Barbie is a great couples costume, sometimes you need a string drink on Halloween.
Sabrina Weinberg, bartender and mixologist at Santo Lounge in Gulfstream Park has come up with just the thing. This Argentina-born beauty kicks it off with some citrus and cinnamon, then adds rum with a heavy hand to calm your nerves and muffle the screamer in you.
DonQ Screamer
1 1/2 oz. DonQ Anejo rum
3/4 oz. orange curacao liqueur
2 oz. sour mix
1 orange wedge
sugar and cinnamon mixture
orange peel twist
In a cocktail shaker, add rum, orange liqueur, sour mix and ice. Shake
vigorously. Rim a Martini glass with an orange wedge and then dip in
the sugar and cinnamon mixture. Strain cocktail into the martini glass.
Garnish with an orange peel twist.
