Craft Beer Weekend Starts Tonight at The Federal; Three Events Around Town

American Craft Beer Week is a little half way over, and there are several more events around Miami worth checking out for the beer-loving warrior. Before the week is finished, make an effort to attend and sip, or chug, some fine and local hand-crafted beers

Remember Brews & Bellies at The Federal Food Drink & Provisions? It’s back for a second round tonight.

Tonight from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., The Craft Brewjas and Diego Ganoza from Gravity Brewbar will host a dinner and beer pairing. The cost is $45 and you get a four course meal paired with six beers, which includes beers from Cigar City as well as Gravity’s own Dubbel Trouble and black sapote Dubble Trouble brewed with fresh sapote fruit grown locally in Homestead.

Then starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at The Local Craft Food & Drink, Ganoza again will have a keg of his Cortradito coffee porter on tap. And the pours are free.

Owners Ray Rigazio and Carlos Caballero from The Abbey Brewing Company are throwing a party

to celebrate its 17th anniversary on Sunday, capping a seven days of

chugging beer for American Craft Beer Week.

Starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday and rolling until 5 in the morning, there will be $4 draft beer specials, $5 shots and mixed drink specials and there is an open bar between 3 to 4 p.m., which means free mixed drinks and beer for one hour.

What’s different about The Abbey this time? When it opened after interior remodeling, it increased seating to 60 people, and they now sell liquor. “Not only do we have great beer, but now we have a liquor license,” says Rigazio.

The beer is not brewed at the bar, but at the Florida Beer Company in Melbourne, making it semi-local and still delicious.
