The Coral Gables Middle Eastern Festival at The Cathedral of St. George featured food, drink, arts, crafts, and bounce houses. Nothing Middle Eastern about bounce houses, but hey, the kids love ’em. The Cathedral of St. George

has a predominantly Middle Eastern membership, mostly of Lebanese and Syrian descent. This festival serves as community outreach and fundraising. Check out their church. It has great artwork. According to the priest, it was painted by a world-famous icon painter.

They invited me to check out their church any time. I probably won’t, but maybe you will. They’ve got their own kitchen in the building, and if you’re lucky, they’ll be cooking up some of that Middle Eastern fire.

Will you step up to support New Times this year?

At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $16,750 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.

$30,000
