Yesterday, we introduced you to Thomas Merolla, who is behind the cocktail list at Solea at the W South Beach and has been preparing delicious cocktails in Miami for sixteen years. If you missed it, you can read the Q&A here. But now, as promised we bring you Merolla’s recipe for an “Old World Fashioned,” his twist on the classic Old Fashioned. Cheers!
Old World Fashioned
1 1/2 oz. Bourbon
1/2 oz. Spanish sherry
1/2 oz. Amarino cherry juice
2 orange wheels
1/2 oz. fresh pressed lemon
1/2 oz. simple syrup
Aromatic and orange bitters
Directions
1. Muddle oranges in bottom of mixing glass.
2. Add the remaining ingredients to the glass.
3. Stir for 30 seconds.
4. Julep strain. Serve up or on the rocks and garnish with an orange twist and cherry.
