If Miami is to continue its march toward becoming a respected art metropolis, who better than restaurant veteran Steven Haas, chairman of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, to bring a vibrant new restaurant to the art corridor. City Hall, a 6000-square-foot, brasserie-style venue will serve high-quality comfort food under the close eye of Tom Azar, who’s long tenure with Emeril Lagasse has made him a renowned chef.
Haas and Azar have joined forces to create a dining experience that touches all the senses The venue features works by artist Andrew Reid and Miami-based muralist Michelle Rojas. Dishes run the gamut from Latin-inspired sea scallops from Maine served with jalapeno emulsion and black bean and sweet corn salsa to a timpano de maccheron; a hearty meatball-filled pasta dome authentic to the Neapolitan region of Italy. Diners will also find familiar old-school entrees like country-style meatloaf, oyster po’boy sandwich, and wood-burning oven pizzas.
The restaurant is scheduled to open later this month, and Haas tells us City Hall will appeal to both local residents looking for ” a comfortable, cosmopolitan place to meet” and the pre- and post-theater crowd.
