This week, we’re whipping out our craft brews and celebrating beer snobbery by clearing our calendars on August 4 for International Indian Pale Ale Day — a tribute to the bitter, hops flavored beer we all pretend to love.
Cervezas in South Miami is kicking off IPA Day early by offering specials on bottled IPA’s as well as special infusions of new flavors tomorrow from 7 to 10 p.m.
The infusions will run through Randalls, devices that saturate beer with different flavors. The first Randall will infuse Southern Tier 2XIPA with tangerine peels, grapefruit, and lemongrass. The second will infuse Cigar City Jai Alai through freshly peeled mango.
“This way if people have already tried those beers, they can now try them with a variation and compare the original to the infused version,” says Cervezas bar manager Desy Binner.

Cervezas will tap a keg of Avery Maharaja IPA, which isn’t usually available. It will also take $3 off bottled IPA’s like Terrapin Side Project Indiana Krunkles, Cigar City Papaya IPA, and Hoppin’ Frog Mean Manalishi, and $1 off Sam Adams Latitude 48, Smuttynose IPA, Lost Coast Indica IPA, and Harpoon IPA.
“If someone doesn’t want to try IPA’s or is looking to get ‘into them,’ we have a lot of milder versions,” says Binner. “All of the bartenders here are happy to provide suggestions and recommend something that might be more their style.”
International IPA Day was created this year by Ashley Routson and Ryan Ross who spread their message through social media. By getting together with craft breweries and home brewers to tweet (#IPADay) and post the event, it has quickly caught on.
With International Beer Day coming up on August 5, we’re thinking this weekend will start early. Very early.
