Brickell will get a pop-up beer garden tonight with the debut of the Brickell City Centre Biergarten.

Spend the evening sipping local brews, nibbling on bites from food trucks, and listening to live music performances, all produced by Prism Creative Group.

“We want to channel the open, accessible, creative nightlife culture that can be found nightly in other places around the world,” Prism’s director of storytelling, Pola Bunster, says. “Beer is just an entry point. It’s something for people to get excited about. But in reality, it signals an open gate into the welcoming atmosphere that can be found in Brickell.”

Located on an interior lawn within Brickell City Centre (700 Brickell Ave.), the Biergarten offers beer from Boxelder and cocktails from Mac’s Pubs. Boxelder will also serve brews from other local spots, including J. Wakefield, the Tank, Biscayne Bay Brewing, Concrete Beach, Bousa, MIA Beer Co., Wynwood Brewing, and Lincoln’s Beard.

Will you step up to support New Times this year?

At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $18,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.

Pizza, tacos, and doughnuts will be supplied by Miami Smokers, Fritz & Franz Bierhaus, Box of Chaos, Spris Pizza, and the Salty Donut.

While you eat and drink, stick around for musical acts such as the Latin funk group Xperimento and the indie band Soulixer.

“Everything about the event is meant to mirror the amazing things happening in our own backyard,” Bunster says. “All you have to do is show up.”

Admission is free; pay for the food and drinks as you go. If the event is successful, others might take place in 2018.

“Locals are still not used to the idea that you can have fun and experience great culture without having to pay an entrance fee or be on a list,” Bunster says. “Especially for an area like Brickell, we wanted to remind the community that everyone is welcome.”
