Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures Miami New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Get your bike ready and head out to Brickell Metrorail station (1001 SW First Avenue) on January 8 for a food truck crawl. This month’s Critical Mass, organized by Emerge Miami, will take bikers for a taste of five local food trucks.
Departing at 10 a.m., bikers will stop at Latin Burger & Taco, Jefe’s Original Fish Taco & Burger, Feverish Ice Cream, Miso Hungry and Sugar Rush.
This isn’t the first bike ride tied to food. Last summer, Emerge organized a sweet treats ride that took bikers around several local bakeries.
Stephanie Cornejo, organizer for Emerge, said these events are a way to get people to support local eateries instead of the chains that are all too common in Miami. It’s also a way to encourage people to ride their bikes to local restaurants. Emerge is already planning a “tour de taco” ride in the coming months and Cornejo says there will be more events to bike and eat.
Saturday’s ride is medium-to-slow paced so bikers of all levels are welcome. You pay for what you consume so make sure you bring cash.
