Argentine ice-cream empire Freddo Helado will open its second Miami location in Brickell, on the ground floor of an under-construction condo building at 1100 S. Miami Ave.
The company, which was founded in Buenos Aires in 1969, opened its first Miami outpost on Lincoln Road in late November to the delight of Latin American tourists. The company today operates 150 stores throughout the region and maintains a third U.S. store in Charleston, South Carolina.
A Freddo spokesperson couldn’t immediately be reached to comment on the store’s opening date. At the South Beach location, cups and cones range in price from $4.75 to $7.50. To-go containers are available and cost $7.50 to $24.
The latest location is a smart pick for the company, considering the huge numbers of Latin Americans buying into rising condo towers and the glut of mediocre, high-priced gelato places strewn throughout Brickell.

Freddo boasts helado made with fresh, hormone-free milk, pure cane sugar, fruits, and other natural and raw ingredients that are produced in Argentina and shipped abroad. Among the flavors offered are mascarpone with raspberry purée, almond nougat semifreddo, and mint chocolate chip. The most interesting item is the helado panini, which tucks a scoop of the creamy, gelato-like blend and various toppings like peanut butter and Cocoa Krispies inside a Hawaiian roll that’s then pressed and dusted with powdered sugar.
