Last February, we heralded the midtown Miami opening of the first American branch of 100 Montaditos. There are more than 200 locations in the rest of the world (many of them in the place of origin, Spain), and the one in midtown has been a huge hit — lines spilling out the door every Wednesday, when every montadito on the menu is $1 — and a mug of Mahou 5 Estrellas beer for a buck too if you buy a montadito.

Last night, the second American branch debuted at 15th Street and Washington Avenue in South Beach.

You can get a warm, crunchy, olive-oil-drizzled mini-baguette filled with a wispy slice of serrano ham for one dollar every day of the week. Yes, it’s mostly bread and precious little serrano, but you can load up on as many of the other 99 low-cost sandwiches as necessary (many go for $1, more complex fillings for $1.50, $2, and $2.50) — and still have plenty of dough left to spend on beer.

Other bar snacks are offered, such as Spanish olives ($1.50), roasted mixed nuts ($1.50), or brava potatoes or french fries ($2.50). Salads are on hand as well, and lots of flat-screen TV sets for the soccer set.
