This holiday season, local spots are offering warm layers of holiday cheer in a glass.

Christmas is around the corner, and with it comes coquito. Sometimes called Puerto Rican eggnog, the recipe varies by household, but traditionally, it’s made with coconut cream, condensed milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and a healthy helping of rum. Though no Puerto Rican holiday gathering is without a few bottles of this delightfully sweet beverage, Miami has adopted it as its own.

Miami Art Week is one of the city’s most vibrant times of the year. Tens of thousands of artists, gallerists, and A-listers converge upon the area to observe, party, and be seen. The only bad part is trying to get a reservation — or even a seat at the bar — of the newest and coolest restaurants and watering holes.

Eagle Brands, a Miami-based distributor of Budweiser beer, has agreed to pay a $1.5 million settlement to the federal government for allegedly violating laws that govern how companies compete with one another in selling alcoholic beverage products, the U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) announced on December 6.

Funky Buddha’s beers have a loyal following, but one particular brew has so many fans that its annual release inspires an entire festival. Maple Bacon Coffee Porter fest returns to the Oakland Park brewery on January 12, 2019, with an afternoon of beer from Funky Buddha and over 50 local and regional breweries. Kaido, the cocktail lounge by Bradley Kilgore and Nico de Soto, opens today with a menu that places equal emphasis on its food and drink.
