You Know You Want Me

The time of celebration is upon us. Carnaval Miami has ushered in a break from the routine, and that means Little Havana is about to turn up like no other part of the city. For the 37th year, Calle Ocho will transform SW Eighth Street between Eighth and 27th avenues into a colorfully loud celebration of music, food, and culture all day Sunday and into the night. See what Pitbull is always rappin’ about and experience Miami full force. This year’s musical performances include Leslie Grace, Oro Solido, Chino y Nacho, Juan Magan, a folkloric stage, and special headliner Daddy Yankee. But c’mon, you know there will be some big surprises. No real Miami celebrity would knowingly miss the biggest block party of the year. Expanding on the fun, Calle Ocho proudly presents a teen art contest, sponsored by Winn-Dixie, Bi-Lo, and Mondelez. Creative minds between the ages of 12 and 17 can enter for the chance to win $200 in Visa gift cards, $300, or the top prize of $500 and the title of best artist in town. Entries can be submitted to the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana. The insanity begins at 10 a.m., with performances beginning an hour later. Admission is free. Call 305-644-8693 or visit
