It might not be hard to find the rowdiest costume parties, scariest haunted houses, or creepiest cocktail bars this Halloween, but let's not forget the true reason for the season: trick-or-treating.

Since Halloween falls on a Thursday this year, parents might look for the best chill-yet-fun blocks to take the kids for late-afternoon candy strolls. While Miami isn't exactly Stars Hollow, plenty of beautiful streets still give you all the fall vibes you can get in 80-degree weather. Here are some of the best places in Miami and South Florida for trick-or-treating on Halloween.

Aventura

While a few malls are on this list, only Aventura Mall can boast a full padel club experience for kids. Casas Padel Club is hosting a trick-or-treat adventure featuring dancing, face painting, candy, and, of course, padel. This free event will be happening from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Coconut Grove

Coconut Grove is known for being pedestrian- and kid-friendly, so it's no surprise it's one of the top spots to trick-or-treat on Halloween. Coconut Grove Connect has put out a trick-or-treat map, highlighting stops like CocoWalk, the Barnacle, and Main Highway. Those with kids might want to visit on the earlier side, as it will no doubt turn into more of an adult scene by nightfall.

Coral Gables

Santa Maria Street in Coral Gables is known for going all out every year. The beautiful homes don't skimp on decorations or candy, with full-sized candy bars and 12-foot skeletons galore. It's one of Miami's most popular Halloween spots, so be sure to go early to find parking nearby.

Coral Springs

Though most of us would rather pretend it's over, it's still hurricane season. If the weather is extra spooky this year, Coral Springs offers families an indoor trick-or-treating option at the Coral Square Mall. From 5 to 7 p.m., participating stores will give out candy and deals to all costumed attendees.

Country Walk

Country Walk is about as close as possible to New England, Pleasantville-style streets in Miami. Families love trick-or-treating here for the nostalgic, small-town vibes, and the residents are happy to indulge them. Any street in this neighborhood will have decor, candy, and kid-friendly activities.

Cutler Bay

Cutler Bay prides itself on being a family-oriented, neighborly part of Miami, and Halloween is no different. It hosts events all month, but on the actual day, residents know that the Whispering Pines neighborhood is the place to be for the best candy experience. The well-maintained, gated neighborhood always shows out with decorations and candy to give local families a Halloween experience to remember.

Doral

One of Miami's longest-standing malls, International Mall, will host a party on Thursday, October 31. From 5 to 7 p.m., enjoy candy, a live DJ, and kid-friendly activities. They'll also be giving away some gift cards and prizes all afternoon.

Hialeah

For the second year in a row, Miami Dade College's Hialeah Campus is hosting a Halloween party for the neighborhood. Families can enjoy trick-or-treating from 4 to 8 p.m. with access to a spooky house, games, giveaways, and more. It's free, but it's first-come, first-served, so be sure to arrive as early as possible.

Miami Beach

Billed as "Miami's largest block party," Lincoln Road becomes a Halloween haven on Thursday, October 31. Most restaurants and cafés along the pedestrian mall participate, setting up candy stations and photo ops all night. There'll also be live entertainment from bands, dancers, and DJs. From 5 to 7 p.m., the "No Tricks, Just Treats" portion is specifically for kids. After that, it's probably time for the kids to head home for the night because, well, it's still Miami Beach.

Pinecrest

While Pinecrest is known for its sprawling lots, a few areas lend themselves to being very walkable. Palmetto Island, an enclave of about 70 homes surrounded by water, is one of the most popular Pinecrest spots for trick-or-treating. It's quiet with light traffic, and the residents go all out for the neighborhood kids. It can be accessed through SW 126th or 133rd streets.

Plantation

Trunk-or-treating might have reached peak popularity during the pandemic, but the tradition is still going strong. The City of Plantation is putting on its own trunk-or-treat event on Halloween night at Pine Island Park. From 6 to 8 p.m., enjoy candy, costume contests, games, and more. Food will also be available for purchase at the park.

South Miami

The City of South Miami is hosting a Safe Streets Halloween block party from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunset Drive will be closed off to cars, allowing families to hang out safely between U.S. 1 and SW 57th Avenue in front of Sunset Place. (Is anything spookier than a nearly abandoned mall set to be torn down soon?) There'll be live music, giveaways, a haunted house, and candy.
