Slugging through the rest of this shortened work week has been tough. For a city so associated with partying, it seems the day-to-day trials of living in MIA are getting to a lot of attention from outsiders (thanks, Nerd Wallet!). Yes, no one is denying we've got some economic issues to work out -- among other things.

Fortunately, this sad study didn't take into account Miami's beauty, her sprawling social scene, or multicultural flair. And, shocker of shocks, we've got all that in spades to look forward to this weekend.

Friday

Swing Thing at TSL Lounge: Paint swings with Miami street artists till midnight -- then dance it up till 3 a.m. It's like being a kid again but with booze.

David Guetta at Story: Jump with the world's most popular DJ.

GOLD Opening Reception at PAMM: Get glittered up and take in this new exhibit that explores gold's historic place in art. Beats After Sunset kicks off right after. DJ sets by Alan Gutierrez with Jacklistens and complimentary drinks from Hendricks, Perrier, Pamelonne, and Desperados.

Miami Marlins vs. Atlanta Braves: See if the Marlins can come back from their loss to the Mets.
