Once a month, artists, locals, free booze lovers, art enthusiasts, tourists, and curious newbies ditch their Saturday routine and crawl to Wynwood for its monthly Second Saturday Art Walk. Because it's worth it. Whether you like to gaze at the hot foreigners carrying Nikons, hunt down as much free liquor as possible, or chat with artists and the likes, Art Walk keeps the bustling art district alive. And despite the usual parking struggles, every Second Saturday surprises us with a little something new. So we're here to assure you make it to some of this art walk's best events.
Junior & Hatter Salon hosts Live Comedy Show
The salon's duo, Andrea Battista and Mario Silvestri, shook things up a bit and traded their "Plugged" live music performances for a live comedy show. Some of Miami's top comedians will flock to Junior & Hatter this Saturday for a night of stand-up comedy and complimentary cocktails provided by Mandarin Napoléon. Enjoy stand-up performances by Alex Morizio, Pam Bruno, Mike Giangrande, Milton, John Gregory, and John Wynn. And expect no less than a packed house full of laughter. The show begins at 9 p.m. and is free and open to all Wynwood Art Walk crawlers. And free just makes life better.
Art Walk + After Party at Cafeina Wynwood
Face your daydreams and your subconscious this Saturday at Cafeina Wynwood's WEC gallery. The gallery will open the night with "Then and Now," 65 years of Nurealism by artist Sol Gersh. It's all beyond surrealism. The opening reception will take place from 7-9 p.m. but you may linger around for the after party. Celebrate the artists, the locals, and art aficionados as you party next to DJ SUPERSEDE and drink cocktails to keep you, uh, hydrated. Cover costs $5 after 10 p.m. but tables must be reserved in advanced. So if you're all about the $375 for Ketel One + Johnnie Walker Black Label, mixers & a table, call 305-438-0792.
You think you know, but you don't. Wynwood has become a sea of hidden treasures that only its true devotees have uncovered. Wynwood Art Walk's new Underground Tour aims at giving you art's version of the "off-off-Broadway" experience. In the darkest of alleys and the narrowest of streets, the Underground Tour will take you to Wynwood's newest, avant-garde art spaces. The tour meets at Lester's and the tour begins at 7:45 p.m. Tickets cost $15. Don't forget to BYOB to make a fun experience a bit more fun. Nothing says Art Walk like roaming the streets inebriated, right?
Free Barbecue + Beat-the-Clock Duvel Happy Hour at Gramps
Roaming the galleries could leave you starved and parched. The solution? Barbeque and beer. After all the walking, looking, and talking, you'll want to make your way over to Gramps' Duvel beer happy hour and complimentary Sparky's Roadside Barbeque. The first 75 lucky ones to arrive receive a free Duvel art glass, and everyone with a ticket can toast to a first Duvel beer on the house. It all begins at 6 p.m. and happy hour will treat those early birds with $2 Duvel Single bottles. An hour later, prices are going up to $3 and then to $5 from 8 to 9 p.m. But it's nothing without a little barbeque to get dirty with.
