Move over Burn Notice, a new cable crime show is coming to town.
Both The Hollywood Reporter and Variety report has picked up scripted-series Sugarloaf for 13 episodes, and the series will begin shooting in Miami soon for a premiere this summer.
Though, unlike Burn Notice, the show actually won’t be set in Miami. It follows Jim Longworth, a former Chicago detective who’s forced off the force after being wrongly accused of sleeping with the captain’s wife. So he moves to the fictional, sleepy Gulf Coast town of Sugarloaf and joins the local police force. While light in tone, Longworth will solve a bunch of crazy crimes in rural Florida.
The production company behind it, Fox Television Studios, is also responsible for Notice, so they’re no stranger to shooting in Miami despite the fact the original pilot was shot in Zephyrhills.
