We don't need an excuse to frolic outside this time of year. And it's especially difficult to ignore the call of fresh air when the DWNTWN concert series books a lively band. Celebrate the end of another workweek with a performance by Bachaco at the Tina Hills Pavilion at Bayfront Park.
Their fusion of cumbia and dancehall rhythms reflects the Venezuelan, Colombian, and Jamaican nationalities of the six band members. With trumpets held high and Spanglish lyrics shout-sung, their sound is alt-rock reggae one moment and Latin hip-hop the next. Whatever the genre, Bachaco will make you dance.
The band is named for a leafcutter ant found in the Amazon rain forest, used in hot sauces, and considered a crunchy aphrodisiac. See if this Bachaco puts you in a similar mood.
