In early March, Youssef announced that show would come to the U.S., with two performances scheduled in New Jersey and one in Miami Beach. But earlier this week, the comedian and commentator posted on his social channels that his show at the Fillmore Miami Beach had been canceled.
Youssef did not explain why the Miami Beach show was scrapped, but his two same-day shows at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center are still scheduled to go on as planned on June 22. In his post announcing the Miami cancellation, the comedian wrote that he had still intended to perform in Miami.
"I apologize to everyone who booked tickets for the Miami show on June 13," read a screenshot of Arabic text posted on Youssef's Instagram account. "Unfortunately, this was out of our control. We're currently trying to book another theater at this short notice."
The comedian suggests he faced unique difficulties staging the Miami show.
"Unfortunately, I can't hide from you the amount of pressure we've been under in the past few months. Despite the difficulties and cancellation threats, I was able to perform more than 100 shows in Europe, America, the Middle East, and South Africa. Out of all [places], Miami was one of the few exceptions.
"Our two shows in New Jersey are still happening on June 22. I'm truly sorry — but compared to what's happened to a lot of people, this is nothing."
New Times contacted Youssef and Live Nation, which operates the Fillmore Miami Beach, to request comment on the cancellation.
Though the comedian did not go into specifics about the reason for the cancellation, Youssef's mention of "the amount of pressure we've been under in the past few months" could be a reference to criticism he's faced for his condemnation of Israel's bombardment of Gaza after the October 7 attacks.
Youssef updated fans on Monday, writing, "God willing, we're trying to find a theater on the same night as the cancelled show, on June 13." He confirmed another theater would host the show the following day, though he did not announce the venue.
In an update posted to his Instagram Wednesday night, Youssef advised ticketholders they'll get early access to tickets for the rescheduled show before tickets go on sale to the general public.
