Circus Brings Nipple Tassels and Face-Painted Pole Dancers to La Fee Verte POSTPONED

There's a very different type of big top in town at La Fee Verte, and we aren't talking about the tent variety. (Although there'll probably be enough wood in there to pitch one, har har.). Tonight, Thursday, Rainbow Circus is bringing its Sexy Circus Sideshow to the burlesque club. And while there'll be plenty of freaks, contortionists, and jugglers, these buxom performers are the ones you might want to run away with instead of from.

The Sexy Circus Sideshow includes seven to eight acts, and these are not for the kiddies. Expect furry wild beasts in the form of face-painted pole dancers, nipple-tassel-clad aerialists swinging through the air, and human oddities like transgender dressers. (No circus is complete without a good she-man.)

The club's resident stars, the Madames du Mischief, will also keep the

crowd aroused. But our guess is that won't be too hard when Rainbow

Circus's Hootchie Kootchie girls take the stage.

Navid Verglast, co-owner of Le Fee Verte, says hootchie gals are

actually a throwback to the original traveling circus days: "In the old

days, burlesque dancers - or anyone that had any type of femininity or

stripping -- was referred to as the Hootchie Kootchie girls," explains

Verglast.  "Hootchie Kootchie was a term that was associated with women

who were considered to be loose - that's where we get the term

hootchies today."

Along with all that eye candy, La Fee Verte will serve eye-popping absinthe

cocktails with names like Moulin Rouge and Devil's Punch. And after throwing back the green liquor, we're pretty sure

the contortionists and burlesque dancers won't be the only ones bending

every which way.

Unlike the Ringling Brothers Circus, this freak show isn't exactly

"come one, come all."  Club La Fee Verte is a members-only spot, so

you'll have to play by their rules: Non-members need to RSVP to

[email protected].

UPDATE: Due to the nature of the circus acts and the good possibility of a tropical storm tonight, La Fee Verte is postponing tonight's Rainbow Circus until next Thursday, July 29th.

La Fee Verte (912 71st St., Miami Beach) opens at 11:00 p.m. The first

show starts at midnight. Call 305.865.5955 or visit
