The über-posh and sometimes affordable Spanish clothing store Zara is reportedly making a move into the historic 420 Lincoln Road building.
According to exMiami, Zara is following in the footsteps of H&M and Forever 21 by setting up a flagship store on Lincoln Road.
UPDATE: Zara’s PR team has confirmed that the chain will open a new store on Lincoln Road.
Being a flagship store and all, this new Zara will most likely carry more upscale merchandise to satisfy the Miami Beach clientele.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $18,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
If the idea of a Zara location on South Beach sounds familiar, that’s because the retailer already has a store on Collins Ave.
This new location, if reports are true, will be bigger — huge, really — at 26,000 square feet, so you’ll be able to find that size or skin-tone-matching color.
The exMiami report has the Zara flagship store planning a winter 2013 opening.
UPDATE: We’ve reached out to Zara’s PR firm, Inditex Communications, and finally heard back. They can confirm that the store will be opening sometime this fall, however, an official date has “yet to be determined.”
Zara’s existing store on Collins Ave. will remain open; “the new opening does not indicate any changes on existing stores,” only that customers can enjoy a new location on Lincoln Rd, Inditex tells us.
