Miami’s nightclub afterlife is full of venues that OD’ed on liquor and drugs, committed suicide due to a lack of attention from fickle partygoers, or — even worse — were murdered by a team of bad management. As for the vampires who clutch high-priced beverages until the wee hours of the morning — they couldn’t give a damn about the demise of the latest party spot. You might think some clubs are better off in the graveyard, but we’re thrilled that Karu & Y (71 NW 14th St., Miami) — one of our city’s most expensive, most hyped party spots — is being resurrected.
In its heyday, er, around six months ago, the $20 million club garnered oohs and aahs over its dazzling décor and celebs with just as much glitter. Diddy, Andy Garcia, and Quincy Jones are just a few of the glitterati who partied in the club whose lavish interior boasts waterfalls, an ocean-blue marble bar, totem gardens, and more flat-screens than a NBA baller’s house. See what all the hype is about every Thursday through Saturday from 10 p.m. till 5 a.m.
