When we pinch the button in the middle of our face, it blocks the odors of the world’s impurities. And when we fold up one or both of the little boxes on the sides of our head, we shut off the racket that yearns to infect our peaceful solitude. But there’s one glitch in our system. If we plug up the hole in the front lower quadrant of our dome, we can’t respire, communicate, or receive sustenance. Let’s hope you’ll do a better job than our creator when you design your head for the opening of Roboheads, a chance for you and yours to rebuild your own noggins. You’re urged to whip out your colored pencils, junkyard knickknacks, and whatever else you can dream up for the American Institute of Graphic Arts’ futuristic masquerade ball.
Thursday at 8 p.m., join the other bots for an evening of smooth mechanical beats, food, and drinks in celebration of AIGA’s 2008-2009 season. The fun is free if you don your robot noodle, and $10 if you just want to gawk. The technological fun takes place at Miami Art Central. Visit www.miami.aiga.org.
