Even if you don’t know his name or you keep mixing him up with that lame glam-goth TV magician (uh, Criss Angel) or you don’t know a hacked PlayStation from a hacksaw, believe us when we say: Cory Arcangel is an artist from the future.

Working out of Brooklyn, Arcangel first earned critical props for stuff like 2002’s Super Mario Clouds, a modded Nintendo cartridge that played nothing but a constant stream of pixilated nebulousness. And ever since, he’s made it his mission to subvert the basic functionalities of consumer technologies — Photoshop, Dancing Stands, YouTube, etc. — in the name of post-postmodern art.

This Saturday at 2 p.m., Arcangel will give an art talk at the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami as a sidebar to his solo show “The Sharper Image,” running through May 9. Now, it won’t be the apocalypse, but you will hear the voice of an Arcangel.

Sat., April 24, 2-4 p.m., 2010
