Independent Journalism in Miami Needs You

We need to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.

$10,000

Is Dancing with the Stars not quite cutting it for you ballroom aficionados? The answer to your yen is coming to Miami this weekend, when hoofers from iTango will invade the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts to showcase the best Argentine tango dancers and musicians in the world.

Set to the live music of the Color Tango Orchestra, iTango explores the unique relationship that develops between performer and dance. Artistic Director Alicia Cruzado takes classic dances like the milonga and the waltz and adds modern twists. Each couple will display physical floor work, movement experimentation, and unique choreography. Performances will take place tonight at 8:00 and tomorrow at 4:00 and 8:00. Tickets range from $35 to $55; students, senior citizens, and groups of 15 or more receive a 15 percent discount.
