The Miami City Ballet announced several additions to their corps de ballet for its 30th season.
Among the announcements are Ella Titus and Mayumi Enokibara, two recent graduates of the Miami City Ballet School and stars of the Teen Vogue web series Strictly Ballet. The web series chronicled the journey of preteens and high school students who competed for limited spots in the prestigious ballet. Titus is a bit of a local, she hails from Clearwater; Enokibara’s appointment keeps to the international spirit of both ballet and Miami, she’s from Rio de Janeiro.
In addition to the Strictly Ballet stars, Simone Messmer will also join the troupe as a principal dancer. She began her career at the prestigious American Ballet Theater and then moved to the San Francisco Ballet where she performed numerous principal roles.

MCB also announced that they would promote Jennifer Lauren to principal soloist, as well as Emily Bromberg and Jovani Furlan to soloist.
The company will open their season on October 23. The 30th season will include George Balanchine’s Swan Lake, Twyla Tharp’s In The Upper Room and a new take on Balanchine’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The season will also include another ballet by Justin Peck. Last season, Peck choreographed Heatscape, an original ballet inspired by the Wynwood Walls, that earned the MCB national acclaim.
