Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re $1,500 away from our spring campaign goal!
We’re aiming to raise $10,000 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Seven days a week, it serves sake shots and tiny bowls filled with oversize corn kernels, and on Tuesdays, SushiSamba Dromo goes way left and converts into the home of all-out Harajuku-style mayhem. You can come as you are or dress like Chun-Li from Street Fighter, but don’t stare at the six-foot-seven black man wearing the ram outfit and pawing at people in the crowd. He’s just getting into the spirit of cosplay: costume and play. Each Tuesday night, the restaurant fills with life-size manga and animé characters. They pulse to the sound of taiko drummers, resident DJs, Circ X dancers, Geisha girls, and cosplay staff dressed to the nines. They’re all vying for $250 for best costume, and your attention.
