A few years ago, Miami-bred, L.A.-based indie guy Vic Kingsley sat down for a midafternoon meal with Neil Young. It wasn’t a power lunch. It was pure coincidence. “We didn’t talk about music,” Kingsley laughs. “I didn’t wanna seem like a fan so much as someone interested in good conversation.”
But Vic is a fan. And this Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Kingsley comes home to host a Neil Young Tribute at the Gibson Guitar Showroom with his band the Westar. The full lineup includes local indie-folk rockers Rachel Goodrich, Nil Lara, Jim Camacho, Arboles Libres, Dreaming in Stereo, Ex Norwegian, Jacob Jefferies, Juke, Omine, Bridget Davis, and Sam Friend. Each act will play one or more personally selected cuts from Young’s massive song catalogue.
The cost of admission is a $7 donation benefiting Neil Young’s Bridge School, a nonprofit organization helping to educate children with severe speech and physical impairments.
