Remember when a peanut butter and jelly sandwich could get you a pack of Fruit Gushers? Well, if you’re still looking to play swappies, head to Cafeina this Saturday at noon for a little game of one-for-you/one-for-me at the inaugural Swap Miami.

The brainchild of Super Market Creative and Creative Mafia, Swap Miami invites the budget-savvy to bring gently used clothes, accessories, furniture, and home décor items in exchange for someone else’s underappreciated gems. But leave your stained corduroy rompers at home. This barter bonanza is for fashionistas bored with the Fendi in their closets. Here’s how it will work: Local stylists and furniture retailers will appraise your items and rate them as Cheap ’n’ Chic, Everything in Moderation, or Lap of Luxury. In exchange, you’ll receive swap currency and a chance to shop other swappers’ D&G clutches, Marni skirts, and Prada pumps.

Don’t be discouraged if you don’t find anything you like. Pat yourself on the back for your charity, because all leftovers will be donated to the Salvation Army.

Will you step up to support New Times this year?

At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $16,750 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
