Yes, soccer is back, this time in the form of the Miami FC, a team that has been trying to curry local favor since 2006. This season, the stakes are pretty high — with Major League Soccer planning to expand even more for the 2011 season, perhaps a good showing in play and attendance would allow Miami FC to jump up a level to the MLS at some point. That’s already a reality for the Vancouver Whitecaps, Saturday’s opponent at Lockhart Stadium, the site of many a raucous match in its day as home to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers and later the Miami Fusion. Lockhart has nary a bad sightline, but it’s on the smallish side. That said, it doesn’t take a lot to get Lockhart rocking.
