Independent Journalism in Miami Needs You

We need to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.

$10,000

DJ/producer Tim Green is on fire. The young London prodigy has enjoyed a meteoric ascent from bedroom producer to internationally acclaimed artist since 2006, when his funked-up banging techno productions began to garner the attention and praise of top industry players such as Pete Tong, Ritchie Hawtin, John Digweed, and Deadmau5. Last year brought massive worldwide accolades for Green, with a DJ Magazine nomination for Best Breakthrough Producer and his breakthrough track, “Mr. Dry” (on Trapez Records), making it to number one on the Beatport minimal chart and becoming one of the biggest techno tracks of the year.

But Green’s output is hotter than ever in 2009, following new releases for Sven Vath’s renowned Cocoon imprint and Claude Von Stroke’s Dirtybird label, in addition to a hectic global touring schedule that includes dates across North and South America, Europe, and Australia. After receiving heavy club and radio support from across the board, his latest August release for Dirtybird, an insidiously catchy little banger called “Kitch-in,” has become one of the biggest hits in Ibiza this summer. So a Tim Green appearance in Miami couldn’t come at a better time, given his sensational worldwide acclaim. You can catch Green spinning at Nocturnal this Friday night, along with DJs Tavo and Giovanny and visuals by VJ Eli-Q.
