You usually see them on Lincoln Road, poking their adorable heads out of Louis Vuitton handbags, or sitting at sidewalk tables, lapping water from Scotch glasses while their owners nosh on sushi. Dogs — especially teeny, hairy lap dogs — run Miami Beach. The mainland, not so much. But Saturday at the Design District’s Art + Design Night, folks will be wondering who let the dogs out. At the Humane Society’s Doggies in the District, you can bring your furry BFF out for fun in the name of charity.

For $30 in advance or $40 at the door, guests are welcome to munch on hors d’oeuvres and desserts by Michael’s Genuine Food and Drink, sip complimentary cocktails, dance to live music, and vie for fabulous prizes in a silent auction. There’ll also be doggies available for adoption, just in case you want to join the cool kids on Lincoln Road Sunday afternoon. The event runs from 6 to 11 p.m. at Atlas Plaza.

Sat., Oct. 11, 6-11 p.m., 2008
