Miami gets a bad rap. People from outside the city limits claim it’s a vain, worthless wasteland, a tourist trap, a place devoid of culture and decent sports fans. Miamians, of course, know better. But it can be difficult to prove the haters wrong.
Luckily, when it comes to the snobs who say Miami has no comedy scene, Magic City Casino (450 NW 37th Ave., Miami) is giving you cold, hard evidence to the contrary. The Ultimate Miami Comedian competition is back, and it promises to bring out South Florida’s funniest people in an onstage battle for the crown — and $5,000.
By the time Saturday’s match rolls around, comedians from up and down the southeastern coast will have battled their way to their spot in the finals. Miami mainstay Pablo Francisco will headline the throwdown. Your only job: Show up, drink up, and laugh.
