As part of its newly launched Salon Series, the YoungArts Foundation brings Grammy Award-winning violinist Joshua Bell as the featured speaker this week. Made possible in part by a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the discussion series continues to “bring together creative art luminaries and offer audiences an opportunity to engage with internationally recognized artists.”
Bell is a superstar of the classical music world, and his talents have also spilled over into pop culture. His violin compositions have been featured in The Red Violin (1998), Angels & Demons (2009), and For Colored Girls (2010).
In addition to his discussion participation on the salon panel, Bell will also perform with YoungArts alumni as well as screen his episode of the HBO documentary series Masterclass. Joshua Bell: YoungArts Masterclass is scheduled to air on the cable channel in October. Previous Salon Series speakers include artist Marina Abramovic and actor/director Robert Redford. Bell will lead the series from 7 to 9 p.m. this Monday at the National YoungArts Foundation (2100 Biscayne Blvd., Miami). Tickets sold out through eventbrite.com.
