Hailing from the sprawling South American metropolis of Buenos Aires, multidisciplinary Argentine artist José Luis Landet makes his home in Mexico City while shuttling his work across the globe to cities such as New York and Turin. In a way, this kind of nonstop international crisscrossing and compulsive border-hopping seems to be a natural outgrowth of the 33-year-old’s art practice, which thrives on testing the limits of space.
Now, Landet has come to Miami to expand the physical possibilities at Dot Fifty One Gallery with a new exhibition titled “Sesera.” Running through July 8, the show features 15 works — painting, ink on paper, and video animation — that were created specifically for Dot Fifty One. Presented as a densely networked installation, “Sesera” seems to merge with the gallery space while simultaneously struggling to escape it.
