It is Monday morning and you have nothing to wear. Eh, no big deal. Clothes are so overrated, and isn’t it more comfortable to be naked, anyway? Take it all off in celebration of Nude Recreation Week. Yeah, that’s right. The Naturist Society (www.naturistsociety.com) has been singing the praises of their body electric for 30 years. “It’s as American as apple pie,” says Nicky Hoffman Lee, spokesperson for the Naturist Society. “We do stress that it’s not lewd to be nude; it’s just a celebration of who we are.” We’re lucky enough to have one of the largest nude beaches in our area, so slather on your sunscreen and bring your free-spirited friends to Haulover Beach. Those who are shy (or fair-skinned) can take it all off for a full-moon skinny-dip tonight. “Skinny-dipping was portrayed in Norman Rockwell paintings,” Lee points out. “It’s natural … that’s kind of our shtick.” But if you’re looking to meet others who believe there is no such thing as “bad naked,” bring a dish to share at the Sun Club Buffet in the Buff at Haulover on Sunday, July 16. Visit www.sffb.com for details.
