A friendly and merciful sun peeks out from behind fluffy white clouds. Something ruffles our hair and the leaves. What is that, a breeze? Must be winter in Miami, otherwise known as the best time to live at the end of America’s wang. With the pleasant weather comes all manner of outdoor fun to enjoy. Yes, indeed, ’tis the season for outdoor festivals, and this Sunday a couple of particularly enjoyable events are scheduled. First we’re headed to the Great Taste of the Grove, a two-day celebration that began Saturday. Head to Peacock Park for live music and delicious bites from Jaguar Ceviche, Bizcaya, Chart House, Cita’s Italian Chophouse, Monty’s, Mr. Moe’s, and Sandbar Grill. For more information, call the Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce at 305-444-7270.

UM alumni might remember this as a favorite weekend: the 58th annual Beaux Fine Art Show on the University of Miami campus. We suggest you start at the Lowe Art Museum (1301 Stanford Dr., Coral Gables). All around the building and up around the lake, visitors can browse, gawk at, and purchase original art from more than 250 artists. Miami’s oldest juried fine art show never fails to disappoint; in addition to the ceramics, jewelry, photography, and sculpture, be sure to check out artist Marcie Ziv’s latest piece, a life-size mixed-media mermaid sculpture titled sun. jan.>
