Haunted-house workers are accustomed to the pathetic whimpers of grown men crying. They’re used to the blood-curdling screams of teenage girls. And they never get sick of hiding in a corner in a dark room and banging on a wood wall when you least expect it. Torment is fun at the International Mall’s House of Horror Amusement Park (1455 NW 107th Ave., Doral).

It’s the largest haunted house in South Florida and the land where chainsaws go to melt flesh and carve bones. Teeth are ripped from the skull with rusty pliers, scab-encrusted zombies feast on steaming entrails, and evil doctors slice and dice their patients into clouds of crimson mist. It’s where the apprehension of torment meets the release of terror through the climax of a fully realized scream. And it feels so good you won’t know what hit you — that’s the abject attraction of commercial fear. Thirty rooms of soul-crushing panic will make the $25 ticket price money well spent.

After you complete the haunted house, you can partake of unlimited carnival rides and Micro Championship Wrestling. Tickets for children 6 and younger cost $15. House of Horror will be open this Thursday through November 2. Hours are 6 to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 5 to 11 p.m. Sunday. Call 305-639-6000 or visit houseofhorrorpark.com.
