Miami sports fans are hot for the Heat right now. Before long, the Dolphins’ moves on the field will be the big news (for better or worse). But there’s one sport South Florida can love year-round: golf. And this Sunday, golfers can get their swing on and support a good cause at the inaugural Special Operations Tournament of South Florida.
Held at the Soffer Course of Turnberry Isle (19999 W. Country Club Dr., Aventura), the tournament pays tribute to South Florida’s special operations personnel and is a daylong fundraiser for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which supports the families of fallen soldiers.
The tournament begins at 10:30 a.m. with registration and tee gifts, a silent auction display, and a Special Operations Forces display. Other events include Demo Day on the range with some of the top golf manufacturers’ equipment, a golf clinic sponsored by Turnberry Isle Miami and local PGA professionals, lunch sponsored by Shorty’s Bar-B-Q, raffle giveaways, awards, cocktails, and a grill-side dinner prepared by Turnberry Isle’s chefs.
