We might not be able to see Russia from our homes, but we nonetheless live in a pretty cool place. Sure the summers leave us sunburned and heat-exhausted, but October’s entertainment upswing is like Christmas Day — highly anticipated and totally worth the wait. For all of the concerts, galas, and celebrations, we’ll suffer through a few months of languid inactivity. Each year brings us new “first annuals” to add to our social calendar, and one that promises to become a must-attend is this Friday night’s Rock the Fashion. The sands of Nikki Beach will be buzzing with a fete that delivers music, fashion, and cocktails — all benefiting the St. Thomas University School of Law.
Lithium Monday will provide a soundtrack of contemporary rock music covers while models strut the runway in pieces from local designer Marilyn Rumbaut. You’ll be able to get in on the action with a silent auction, an indiscriminate red carpet, and infectious tunes spun by your new favorite DJs. At this event, fashion is as much about style as it is about how South Florida parties. Tickets cost $20 with a student ID, $30 without. For VIP and table reservations, call John Leon at 786-478-5646.
