When you hear the word social being used to describe a get-together, you start getting all kinds of weird expectations and questions. Perhaps there will be ice cream and/or boxcars at this retro-themed event? Would a hoop skirt and petticoat be in order? No need to worry about carrying a parasol or mastering ye olde-fashioned etiquette at the hot new Abokado Social. The trendy Japanese fusion restaurant invites local lushes into its upscale eatery for a three-hour drinkin’ tour taking place daily from 4 to 7 p.m. They’re calling it “happier than an hour,” because of the length of time they’re offering this discounted drink menu and bar menu. We’re calling it “waitress, get security to handle this.” Because we know exactly how much damage can be done thanks to three consecutive hours of three-dollar draught beers and six-buck martinis and mojitos.
You’ll need to soak up those affordable libations with something, and Abokado’s got your back in the culinary department with a special bar menu. Items range from five to seven bucks a pop and include 14 offerings — five rolls, edamame, Abokado nachos, and kushiage cheese, which is panko-crusted queso blanco on skewers, for you uninformed souls. That’s it — stick a fork in this hump day; we’re done. See ya at the sushi bar.
