Kick up your heels and get ready to dance. This Saturday, you can learn a sensuous mix of flamenco and Middle Eastern dance during the Flamenco Fusion Workshop. The class is led by Zizi Zabaneh, South Florida’s flamenco fusion master. The workshop is open to all levels, from beginners to more advanced dancers, and will teach you veil technique using choreography described as beautiful, expressive, and romantic. No worries if you’re just starting out — you’ll receive the music in advance if you pre-register, so you’ll have plenty of time to get in the mood. Students are asked to bring a veil (if you have one), water, and energy. Skirts are optional, but you might as well get into the gitana spirit and go for the full transformation.
The workshop takes place from 4 to 6 p.m. at Per-Form Studio (5141 NW 79th Ave., Ste. 6, Doral). Tickets cost $35 in advance and $45 at the door. Visit fusiongitana.net.
