Independent Journalism in Miami Needs You
We need to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
It is not exactly the Romans versus the Visigoths, but an epic battle is taking place at the Gansevoort Beach Club on Sunday afternoon. Men and women whose daily job is to pour drinks or serve food at 40 local establishments will compete in the sixth annual Seven Tiki Beach Ball Festival. Contestants will square off in dodgeball, relay races, tug-of-war, and for the first time in Beach Ball’s history, drink mixing. The Forge, Joe’s Stone Crab, the Mondrian, Club Space, and the Opium Group are some of the clubs, restuarants and hotels that will vie for Beach Ball Festival supremacy.
In addition to free admission, spectators will be treated to free samples of Seven Tiki Spiced Rum cocktails. The Seven Tiki brand, made by Bacardi, is the festival’s main sponsor. Doors open at 3 p.m. on the 24th street side of the Gansevoort.
