It’s Friday night and, as usual, Brickell will be packed with HYTs (hot young things). Except this time, they’ve traded their usual happy-hour, business-casual look for workout gear, running shoes, and iPods. And they’ll be even hotter than usual from sweating it out in the Carnaval Miami 8K Run tonight. Participants can choose from a 5K walk or an 8K run, and children can hoof it in the Kiddie Dash.

The starting point is Eighth Street at SE First Avenue, after which the course circles around 22nd Avenue to the finish line at SE First Avenue. Once across the line, participants receive a medal, a smile, and an arroz con pollo dinner. Then everyone is invited to stay and enjoy the afterparty, because – of course! — no event in Miami is complete without one. Go time is 7:15. Sign up online at www.footworksmiami.com.
