You don’t need the backing of an established industry to throw a great party. All you need are some good people, some good tunes, and the will to rock. “Do it yourself” is the foundational ethos of the seventh annual 305 Fest, which will bring together nearly 40 of the gnarliest local and national bands for a four-day musical melée the likes of which you’ve never seen. The 305 Fest kids will take over Churchill’s Pub (5501 NE Second Ave., Miami), the only respectable place for real home-grown mayhem in the Miami area. From Thursday to Sunday, the fest promises to bring nothing but the finest in “shows, beach, dance parties, and booty shorts.” Where else in the country can you take in the sun while swinging in the New Year? Yep, nowhere. Some of these bands are coming from as far as Seattle to get a slice of our leisurely lifestyle. Besides the main shows, there will be special house parties, with times and locations to be announced, and even a punk wedding party. You better take full advantage.
