Valentine’s Day is almost here and nothing says lovin’ like watching a subtitled film while feeling up the object of your affections. So from today through February 24, you and yours should take in one of the foreign films at Romance in a Can, the rare film festival that puts the focus on love.
You’ll be privy to 25 independent European screenplays that have never been seen stateside, a bonus that a cardboard heart full of bon-bons can’t compete with. And the best part: If you have more than one honey, you can spend the 14th with your favorite and take the runnerup to the movies today! All the screenings and other special events will take place at various locations from Coconut Grove to South Beach, so you won’t be lying to anyone when you describe the theater as “our place.” The festival begins tonight with a screening of French film Toute la Beaute du Monde at Parisian Brasserie Maison d’Azur. Visit www.romanceinacan.com for tickets and a full schedule of screenings.
