If you’ve seen the wine prices in some of our tony local restaurants, the words highway robbery, extortionate, and unconscionable probably come to mind. So beginning this Wednesday, June 1, and continuing every Wednesday throughout June, megameatery Gotham Steak at the luxe Fontainebleau Miami Beach is offering what it calls “50 for 50” — 50 wines chosen by sommelier David Mokha for 50 percent off. And it doesn’t apply just to wines costing as much as the down payment on a new Mercedes. Half-off prices range from $18 to $150 for the superlative Dominus Estate 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon, a wine that’s 100 percent worth every penny.
