HIV and AIDS are not pretty subjects. But the way cultures around the world address those subjects just might be. That’s the thinking behind “Graphic Intervention: 25 Years of International AIDS Awareness Posters 1985-2010,” opening Friday at the Wolfsonian-FIU. The museum has rounded up more than 150 AIDS awareness and safe-sex education posters from countries around the globe and displayed them in one cohesive exhibit. Individually, the pieces reflect the way their respective countries view sexual health and sexual morality. Collectively, they’re a powerful reminder of the pervasiveness of the AIDS crisis.
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays-Sundays, 12-6 p.m. Starts: May 11. Continues through Sept. 9, 2012
