Rambling Plan

During most of our lame, suburban upbringing, we figured all food was made by lab-coat-clad fascists on petri-dish assembly lines. We still have Styrofoam stuck between our teeth from all of that processed goodness. Later in life, though, we discovered that real food actually grows in dirt — you know, that brown stuff we cover with parking lots. Then one day, we were rolling our own ciggies when it hit us: Plants do a lot more than give us something to smoke. In fact, we can’t breathe without them. That’s why the 70th annual Ramble, a garden festival at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, is so cool.
This Friday through Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., there will be more than 15,000 plants for sale, and that’s enough oxygen to get you high on life. There will also be a fresh herb market, garden-related artwork, a world of organic chocolates, and plenty other awesome eats, including fresh mango/passion fruit ice cream. To top it all off, there will be an old and rare book sale full of those funny analog versions of the iPad.
